Well, Colt is one popular little man! He’s had lots and lots of visitors. . . unfortunately, he wasn’t awake for hardly any of them πŸ™‚ (Which you will see in the pictures)
Colt David – doing what he does best right now, besides being adorable (sleeping)!

I know Colt will love Aunt B and Uncle Dale as much
as the rest of his cousins do! They are lifesavers!!

Cheryl and Carlye were with me when I took my first steps!

Colt with great (they are literally great too!) grandparents Papaw Gene and Mamaw Betty

Cousins Chloe and Malie with Colt and Sarah

Colt (4 days old) and cousin Sarah (3 months old). It’s hard to believe he’ll be that big before we know what happened! She’s lots of fun though – very alert, able to sit up with help, laughs and smiles all the time – part of me wants Colt to stay teeny but that will be a fun stage too!

Colt and Uncle Heathy πŸ™‚

Handsome little man just got home from the hospital in this picture. He slept the whole way (even during all of our struggles getting him into the carseat for the first time – you should have seen us! We should have practiced with a doll or something because it was something else!). Funny thing is, he came home on our 1 year anniversary (August 4 — who would’ve thought? I don’t think we could have even planned that!

Colt likes the bear that Joey and Jennifer got him. It’s super soft! Wish it was big enough for me!

Colt and Papaw Randy. Grandpa Donnie and Grandma Trudy were here this week. They had to leave this morning though. I don’t have any pics of them and the little guy uploaded yet (they must be on the other camera), but they spent lots of time with him and just showered him with hugs, kisses and lovins! He loves his grandparents!

This is my baby picture. I’ll have to get one of David on here too. He’s really a good mix of both of us. It would be a better picture if he would open his eyes and pose for us πŸ™‚ Since neither my sweety nor I look like our baby pics we couldn’t tell who he looked like – until we pulled them out. He’s definitely ours!

Adjusting to 3 . . .

The evening that Colt David was born, we had planned a family “reunion” cookout at my parents house. The aunts, uncles, and cousins were in from out of town and we were supposed to eat at 6 pm. Well, David and I left the house for the hospital about 6 pm. We hated to miss it and all the precious little babies were there! Most of them came to the hospital a couple of hours later though, so the waiting room was full when little Colt arrived at 11:41! This is Sarah and my cousin’s baby girl Vivian. Papaw Tom has his hands full! Now there is Colt to add to the bunch and one more due in October! Christmas should be fun this year πŸ™‚

This is little man. . . I must say he’s a good baby! We have adjusted well at home. We’ve had the help of grandparents though. David’s parents have been here too. It’s been nice to be able to rest and know the baby is in good hands (literally). He’s enjoying his grandparents (and mommy is too!).

We went to his pediatrician today. They said he was so beautiful and perfectly healthy! They were shocked that he hasn’t lost any weight. . . actually he’s gained an ounce and is at 8 lb. 11 oz. The lactation consultant said we made a great team and she could use him on a video! haha. I count it a great blessing. . . and really enjoy our special time together πŸ™‚ He’s a sweetheart for sure! I know he’s only 4 days old (I can’t believe it’s been 4 days already!), but he really sleeps most of the time and then wakes up every 3 hours to eat. He hardly ever cries! Even his cry is adorable though. David and I are so thankful for the little bundle from the Lord! We are just crazy about him (David is a great daddy! – a natural of course).

His feet on his little certificate look like toddler feet – they are just big ole Curry feet!

Our sweet baby boy ~

More Pics of Baby Colt ~

This was about 24 hours before Colt arrived in this world! This is my cousin Joey’s beautiful wife Jennifer. She is expecting in November. . . not too much longer! You two hang in there πŸ™‚

This was a true contraction picture. . . on the way out the door to the hospital Saturday evening.
There were so many people in the waiting room. We really never got bored because there was always someone new to visit with. That was nice and we appreciated them all being there (it was late!).
Here’s the two men of my life. . . they were having too much fun during the whole labor process!
Little Sarah was the life of the party in the waiting room. She can’t wait to meet her new cousin!
I’ll spare you the pictures of blood and gore, but this was shortly after Colt arrived. He was healthy indeed at 8 pounds 10 ounces. . . I couldn’t believe he came out of my stomach!

The rest of those pictures are pretty self explanatory. He’s perfect, and although he doesn’t look like David or me right now. . . he’s one beauty of a baby boy πŸ™‚

Colt David Miles – 8-2-08

He’s here. Today Haley’s contractions were more frequent and stronger probably because we played tennis on the Wii some (haha).
Around 5:00 p.m. she told me that she thought it was time…I was freaking out, she was pretty relaxed except during the contractions which were obviously uncomfortable for her.
We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 and she was already dilated to 3. At around 8 they broke her water and she was dilated to 4-5 at 9. All the excitement started at 11:15 when Haley thought she needed to go to the bathroom and the nurse checked her and informed us that she was fully dilated and the baby’s head was low.
I was just getting ready for a nap in expectation for a long night then it all changed. Our room went from three people (Haley, the nurse and I) to like ten people in five minutes. It was crazy.
She gave about eight hard pushes and there he was…blue, green and alot of hair. They cleaned him up though and he looks normal now.
He latched right on to breasfeeding and both Haley and Colt seem to be doing just fine. He weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds 10 ounces! The “little” guy measured 21.25 “
There are alot more pics, but I don’t have Mama Gail’s camera which has all of them. We will post them soon though.

Change of Plans. . .

Me and my basketball at 41 weeks. . . We were both surprised after our doctor appointment today. We went in at 8:30 this morning planning to be found “favorable” and make plans for the morning. Well, although I’ve been having contractions, they are still about 15 minutes apart, and I have no significant changes in my lack of dilation either. So, he said he would see us again on Monday morning. . . but hopefully before that in the hospital!

While I was quite bummed, Mom pointed out that she was thankful he was not willing to induce me with no dilation because that is what happened to her when she had Heath and she nearly died. The body isn’t made for that I suppose.

So, I’ve been praising the Lord and thanking Him for being in control (and praying that I’ll go into labor any second) through my ridiculous tears because I’m not enjoying this like I should be. I’ve tried everything people have said works. . . eating foods, walking with “wide steps” (that looks funny), etc – except going on a four-wheeler. Haven’t tried that yet. Have I learned “in whatever state I am in, to be content”? Now looking into week 42 . . . we might just have him on our anniversary (8-4-08)!

The end is in sight. . .

Well, David and I went walking (with a little jogging) for 2.5 miles last night. I was not feeling good – but that is what we wanted! We were all hoping he was on his way. However, we went to the doctor this morning and everything looked too good! He wanted us to come back on Thursday though and will induce Friday (8/1/08) if he doesn’t come on his own. I guess I have mixed feelings. I want it to happen naturally, but I also really want him to come – prayers are that he will come on his own before Friday! No matter what,Β the FatherΒ is good all the time!

One Day Closer

Well, the title of this post is “One Day Closer” as opposed to “One Day Late” because we are trying to keep everything on a positive note and be thankful πŸ™‚ Just because the 2 other girls that were due the same time as me already had their babies doesn’t mean a thing to us! I am just as big as a house and thankful that we have a healthy little boy in there who just loves his mommy sooo much that he doesn’t want to part from her physically. . . haha. This picture was yesterday, the due date. Mom and I walked about 2 miles with Aunt B and Girl (Mom’s dog), then I came home and washed cars. . . thinking something would stimulate some labor pains, but there was nothing. I was hoping to be able to accomodate my in-laws while they were in, but they had to leave this morning. They will be back up when the time comes. . . could be awhile I suppose. We had a good visit with them though, and David and Daddy D were able to play some golf and spend time together. Mama T and me watched some good gameshows though (right Mama T)? Anyways. . . . on with the pictures: Little Sarah . . . cute as a button and one of the few times that she got a break from someone holding her πŸ™‚
Uncle David has been getting in some good practice, but that makes us all the more anxious to have our little one in our arms.

Sarah and Papaw . . . they are pretty big buds

Although my belly tends to get in the way, I can still hold her, and I love to hear her giggle!
It may look like Papaw was reading to Sarah, but really she was reading to him (you see, she is “very advanced”) haha.

This is Dad and Heath playing boxing on the Wii. It’s a new game that most of the world knows about or has. You are supposed to be standing up though. . . then it would be good exercise πŸ™‚ David and Heath have been practicing their hunting skills on one of the games too. I guess we’ll see the fruit of their “labors” this hunting season.

Due in a day!

Well, the baby’s due date is tomorrow! We have been praying he would come this week since David’s parents are in town. They came up for a huge convention here in Charleston with theirΒ chrch. I mean, what are the odds that they would already be up here the week this little guy is due? Yet, the week is almost over and he’s still not here. They are patiently waiting though. . . We aren’t sure how long they can stay though, but we are enjoying having them around! Actually, last Saturday we had a cook out with some of the fam when they got here: Heath, Kelly and Sarah. Sarah is 2 1/2 months old and weighed 13 pounds at her last doctor’s appointment. She’s so healthy and happy! We all just love her too death! She has a good mommy and daddy who love her lots too though! Heath cracks me up smothering her with kisses πŸ™‚ I remember when I was little and he would smother his little sis too death too! Mom said I would cry when I would see him coming. He grew out of that though πŸ™‚

Mama T and Daddy D are probably going to have a cow when they see this picture. . . but I couldn’t resist and Aunt B got such a good picture! Apparently, they have this little trick that they like to make “dentures” out of lemon rinds?? They are pretty good at it (they must do it a lot – haha). They are fun to have around though!
This is 39 weeks. . . I never knew a stomach could get this huge! We are still getting around though – I had been working at the hospital, that was the last week of 12 hour shifts though until after the baby. I still love to clean and wash cars though. Somehow staying active is not speeding up the process though. I don’t get it?
The boys had fun singing some old hymns. Papaw Tom loves to harmonize with a group – I think they should go on the road myself! It was a fun evening though! Thanks for the pics Aunt B!

A week never seemed longer . . .

Well, contrary to popular demand (at least my wishes lean toward the nonpregnant state right now). . . I’m still pregnant. But we’ll keep you updated!! I did get to see my brother’s precious little girl earlier this week, and caught some cute pics. She just loves and laughs at her daddy πŸ™‚ She is 2 months old now! Hard to believe. . .

Fourth of July Festivities. . .

Well, first things first: HAPPY 33RD ANNIVERSARY to my precious parents! Their anniversary was July 3 and they had a nice little get away down to Smith Mountain Lake. David and I thought they might want us to go with them, but for some reason they chose to go by themselves. Go figure πŸ™‚ (I bet if the baby were here they might have atleast wanted him to go). We went to a cookout at Aunt B and Uncle Dale’s last night. It was the whole neighborhood, complete with some pretty amazing fireworks and live music from David and another fella. They did a great job and we all had a good time. . . not to mention good food too!
This is the same place that we had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding almost one year ago. Never would have dreamed we’d be here in this present condition! haha.
This is me and my hunny. Little baby is due in 19 days. . . Sometimes I think he’s going to tear out of my stomach, like our own little version of a c-section because it’s so tight right now!
This is Uncle David and little Sarah. She likes him a lot. I mean, it’s obvious. . . even though she’s only 7 weeks old.
She’s pretty “advanced” according to this Papaw. I think she was telling him a big story.

That’s all the pics for now. Hopefully we’ll have to update: HE’S FINALLY HERE soon! No more big plans until then though. We go to the doctor weekly, on Wednesdays. David stays pretty busy with work, and I have class on Tuesdays with clinical Wed-Fri. Nothing is going to slow down until he comes, so I hope it’s soon! Plus, little Sarah needs a playmate and then maybe everyone won’t have to fight over her;-) I’m sure he’ll be excited to meet his other cousins Cort and Caily too!
