First "Hairs Cut"

So, Aunt Debbie had mentioned this cute place that gives kids their first haircut for a penny! I called David to make sure it was ok. . . wasn’t sure if he was going to be sentimental and want to be present 🙂 He didn’t. He just said, don’t get it cut too much! We are fond of our fuzzy headed boy I suppose. . . haha.

So, Colt sat on the little motorcyle and didn’t move a muscle! (good thing because he wasn’t strapped in!) He wasn’t really sure what was going on, he wasn’t really smiling, but he was doing just fine. He loved the motorcyle handles and buttons.

She started cutting his bangs (much needed), and I was having second thoughts. She really didn’t cut much other than that before I said “ok, thank you!” (aka – that’s enough). So, he doesn’t look much different, but he can probably see better 🙂 Of course, David thought it was QUITE noticeable.

Jakob and Colt

We just got back from a visit with our South Carolina cousins (Colt LOVED Adam), Aunt Debbie, and Uncle David. The main reason for our visit was Aunt Debbie turned the big 5-0! But, she doesn’t look a day over 2-5! 🙂 Jakob also had a birthday a couple of weeks ago. He turned 1 and started walking around then too. . . and literally “walks circles” all the time! He’s definitely a mover, so he and Colt got along great 🙂

These are just pics of the first evening when they got reacquainted. Who knew a barrel of monkeys could be so much fun? Colt loved the horse as well!

Other fun things that I will post about later – Joey and Jennifer took us to the zoo. So, we saw lots of animals! And Colt got his first haircut. Um. . . that was special as you will see.

Must come naturally

Colt looooves to read. He has more books than toys I believe, which is fine with me. The only problem is that he wants to “read” (I say that “read” because he hardly ever sits through an entire book) every single one of them every time he sees a book.

So, the interesting thing about these pictures is they are not posed. He wanted to read, but he wanted to sit on the toilet. I’m not sure how sanitary that is. . . but he obviously wasn’t USING the toilet. Wonder where he learned this anyways? 🙂

"Wings"

Swings are quite possibly Colt’s new favorite thing. Uncle Dale and Aunt B got Colt a swing for his birthday which is now on our back porch. He can see it from his high chair every time he eats. . . so we go “wing” for hours it seems. He’ll just sit there and point at the “quirrels” which is funny to hear him say. He REALLY emphasizes the “K” sound at the beginning of “quirrel.” He seems to ALWAYS see one too. . . even when there are none.

These are some more pics from Wednesday afternoon. After Colt and I finished “walking” we found this “wing” and played on it for about 45 minutes. Colt waved “hiiii” to everyone and wanted to follow the “doggies.”

Well Colt went for his 15 month check up yesterday. He didn’t get his shots because he has a cold. . . hopefully that will resolve quickly. He is 33 inches and 23 1/2 pounds. So he’s “tall and thin” according to the doctor (like his daddy). He’s in the 25% for weight and 75% for height. Funny, because I always thought he had quite the tummy to show for 🙂

Right now I’m trying to function because I worked last night and should really be sleeping before I have to go back tonight. David made a quick errand and ended up breaking down so his 45 minute trip has turned into several hours. Thankfully, “I can do all things through Christ,” because this little one is hard to keep up with when my tank is empty.

We can always learn from little ones. . . I should rest completely in the hands of my heavenly Father and enjoy the view as I “swing” through this temporary life.

Abide

“O Father, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O Father, I want to want Thee; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, so that I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” A.W. Tozer

A little bit of life. . .

Not only is this a snippet of a little bit of our life, but you can also see all the life that is in our little one. I’m thinking last night he was a bit more lively (aka rowdy) than usual though. I’m attributing that to some Dr. Pepper that he received from the youth at chrch 🙂 We took the teens out to a local milkshake shop last night after chrch  and Colt spent some time at their table bumming food and drinks. . . Sweet Sydney told me she gave him a sip of her Dr. P since he was asking for one. haha. I told her it was totally ok and didn’t think it would affect him, but I think I was wrong! As you can probably tell.
It’s a regular Pete and Repeat show around here these days. Colt is keeping us on our toes and we are watching EVERYTHING we say more than usual – probably should be this careful all of the time actually . . Needless to say, we are enjoying this stage and are trying to make the most of every teaching minute. It’s hard though because we (atleast I) do get tired.
We’ve started doing devos with Colt at night. This is not because we think he understands the concepts, but because we feel it’s a good practice to start. We want him to know that the Father is and will be the center of this home. He’s picked up on the “prayer” and “amen” part though. But, he was pretty restless yesterday evening during this. So, it’s more for a keepsake video for us 🙂
Enjoy your week!

Mr. Big Stuff. . . oh yeah.

Notice anything different about our little man? Hint: I’m not talking about the big bruise above his right eye – that’s not “new.” Actually, that’s the norm around here. Once something heals, another appears! I’m used to it by now though.
On a different note. . . I’ll just share some of the happenings of the Miles family to possibly bring some amusement to your day/night – whenever you choose to read this:
– the granite countertops were installed this week! Love them lots and lots, but we couldn’t use our sink for a few days. We thought, “no problem!” What a perfect time to try out the dishwasher! We’ve never had a dishwasher before – just the DavidHaley brand you know. So, we had PLENTY of dishes piled in that thing, filled up the soap dispenser and turned her on. “What a quiet dishwasher!” We thought, but 2 hours later I was thinking “what a SLOW dishwasher.” After peeking in, I saw that no water had ever been used, but it was hot enough to give me a 3rd degree burn! It may have “steam cleaned” the things in there – minus the steam – or just baked them to a crisp. Oh well, I had hours of scrubbing and lots of dishes once the sink was in working order again. Good News: It looks pretty anyways. Bad News: Don’t have time or money to even TRY and fix it right now.
– Since I’ve been working and we had company coming, I needed to do some serious laundry – like a whole days worth. I really try not to let it get out of control because who seriously wants to do laundry ALL DAY. But, I had sheets to wash, beds to make, and clothes to clean. . . so I started with gusto only to find that the washer ALSO had some gusto! It started shaking like it was going to take off and launch. I was thinking this was the end. . . Good News: My hubby fixed it, somehow. He’s wonderful. Bad News: laundry never ends.
– All in the same day, David and I are moving in our furniture after 3 months of being packed up in the garage waiting for carpet installation. This is fabulous! All is well (despite other events of the day) until my (as before mentioned) wonderful hubby informs me that “I” had spilled a WHOLE gallon of paint in the garage floor (where all of our earthly possessions are stored right?). Oops. That was great fun to clean up – though I will give credit where credit is due, wonderful hubby did most of it. Good news: That section of the garage floor is really clean. Bad news: We have to buy another gallon of paint.
– So, the only thing to top it all off is that I got off of work early on Tuesday only to get home late! Indeed, I wrecked my wonderful hubby’s first and most beloved car. The ole Honda. He loved her (maybe more. . . so I had to get rid of her). Juuuust joking. Good news: No one was hurt. Bad news: We only have 1 car, and a gas guzzler at that.
Until next time. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! (10/10)

Our Little Colt

My dear mother purchased Colt and Sarah some “fall festival” outfits. . . thought that was a clever code name for these costumes they might possible wear to pass out or receive candy in at the end of this month 🙂

I had Colt wear his little horse outfit to one of the nearby parks. . . didn’t get very many good pics, but he did have fun playing with the rocks, and eating flowers and pine cones I guess.

(the reaction after eating something non-edible)

Back at Nana and Gramps several weeks ago –
This is Colt and “Girl.” His 2 favorite things are “doggies” and “balls.” So, much to Girl’s disappointment, she was his main recipient of lovins and attention.

Dad, bet you’ve never held a bumblebee before. . . actually I bet you’ve never held a horse either, for that matter!

Uncle Dale and Sarah ~

Sarah is so good to pose for the camera. . . Colt would much rather be running around.

I’m sure they’ve found something neat to eat?
