Colt and his crazy self

Sometimes we let Colt stay up past his bedtime….usually it makes him grumpy, but sometimes it makes him giggly – come to think of it his mommy is usually giggly or grumpy when she stays up too late also πŸ™‚ I’m pretty much always grumpy when I stay up too late. But anyways here is a video of Colt staying up too late and being giggly.

Blue Eyes

Colt seems to be a barrel (bigger than a bottle) of energy these days! Sometimes he’ll just start jumping and laughing. . . then he’s off again! I’m just thankful that he’s a good kid and obeys well, or I could only imagine what it would be like!

Anyways, I am sooo thankful for the warm weather we are having down here. We pretty much just go outside all of his “awake hours” of the day. We eat on his little picnic table from Mama T and he has all of his favorite toys as well as this sand box that came with the house. I didn’t even notice it at first, Colt found it. He goes straight there when I tell him he can go out of the screened in part of the porch, and he’ll just start throwing the sand out – must be fun? (though he doesn’t “look” like he’s having fun in these pictures. . . he really is!)

In Memory of Jane Ann Curry

We made another trip to WV this week.

My aunt has been battling breast cancer for 8 years. Though the cancer claimed her physical life, she had the ultimate victory over death. 2 Corinthians 5:1 ” For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building ofΒ the Father,Β  a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

She left behind a loving husband, Uncle Todd, and 2 precious daughters – Chloe (11) and Malie (9), who will one day meet her again! Praise Him!! I couldn’t help but think watching the slideshow in her memory that her little ones would have been around 1 and 3 years old when she received the devastating news of her illness. No one expected her to make it 8 more years. She was a fighter for sure.

David, Colt and I were able to see her the week before she passed which was a blessing. There was also an unbelievable amount of love and support (and food!) from family, friends, and the community at the visitation and funeral. Another great blessing! Because of their faith I know Uncle Todd and the girls will be okay. Of course it will be difficult. I can’t even imagine how difficult. Chloe stated it this way for Malie comprehend, “We are just burying the candy wrapper, not the sweet stuff inside.” Priceless.

Psalm 119:50 “My comfort in my suffering is this. Your promise preserves my life.”

What I love about her . . .

1. She sure does resemble her Daddy’s baby pics. . . though (thankfully) she has her mommy’s petite frame πŸ™‚

2. She’s a little “mommy.” She likes to feed Colt and put her diapers on her dollies. She knows how to do it too!

3. She’s quite animated with her voice and expressions. Sure to make you smile.

4. I got to give her her first pigtails! Too cute aren’t they? She loved to look at herself in the mirror πŸ™‚

5. She is a good eater. . . she can make eating a PB&J look like fun, huh?

We love you Sarah! You are a special little girly.

New Years Reservations

New Year’s Resolutions? Or are you the person who stops before the New Year even begins for fear of failure and no real change? Like the wise person once said (anyone know who originated this saying?) “if you fail to set a goal you’ll miss it every time” . . .
I must say that I’m not crazy about writing things publicly. Ironic, I know, since I have a blog. BUT, here is goes and if I happen to develop short term memory loss, forgetting what goals I’m working towards this year, I can always look back here because it will forever be on the web, right?! Scary.

1. “Kindness is Christianity with working clothes on.” – author unknown

2. “If my life is broken when given to Jesus, it is because pieces will feed a multitude, while a loaf will satisfy only a little lad.” – Ruth Stull

3. “A man who governs his passions is master of the world. We must either command them, or be enslaved by them. It is better to be a hammer than an anvil.” – St. Dominic

4. “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot

5. “Run a marathon.” – me

So, realistically, only 1 of these goals can be reached to the point of completion this year. That would be #5 – with the help of my hubby I suppose. The others are goals/attributes of my Christian walk that I feel could use some improving. Yet, as you know you never reach “completion” in Christ until you stand before him face to face – perfect in Him. Looking forward to that day!
