Last Friday, our tutor took us out for Mao Cai. It’s a style of food/restaurant/eating where you pick out your food (which can be meat, vegetables, tofu, eggs, or organs) from the refrigerator. The cook then prepares it all for you and brings it out in a bowl of spicy soup. It was a neat experience! My favorite vegetable here is Lotus root. Soooo yummy! So I ate lots of that and other veggies and some tofu. David was the much more adventurous one this trip!
For those of you who think you now never want to come visit. . . let me tell you that we absolutely LOVE the food here! It’s so fresh and nutritious! Lots of variety and and lots of hot hot spicy dishes! Which we again . . we love! In fact, our friends who have lived here for 10 years haven’t tried most of the bizarre foods we have tried. So, I think you have to “seek it out” to get that “privilege”
