The Simple Things

His reaction when Mommy put on the funny glasses. . .
The first place he goes when we go outside. . . EVERYday and EVERYtime – to our neighbors’ “ball” and little water table. A change of clothes and usually a bath is inevitable.
The splashing felt soo good on a hot afternoon.
His vain attempts to get in the water all the way.

He has also become fascinated with the source of the water here. . . Since he has somehow figured out how to turn it on I guess we’ll need to pay special attention or we may just have some massive water bill/leak/damage one day as this little guy grows up!
It’s been quite a busy weekend. We were finally able to close on the house Friday. It was a day of mixed emotions. We are so excited and thankful for what the Lord has blessed us with, but also nervous about “spending our life savings!” ha. We’ve been working almost nonstop with cleaning and painting, but it seems like we’ve only made a small dent! It’s also really hard when you have a little one. I can’t help clean and paint – two things that aren’t baby friendly for sure! – when Colt is around. David has been going at it non stop and I jump in when Colt is napping or when we put him down around 7 at night.
You don’t realize how much you miss family when it comes to needing a babysitter! Thankfully we have made some dear friends with our neighbors – truly gift from above.
As for the house. . . it’s been fun to pick out paint, and I thought that I liked to clean. . .but whoever lived here before left us PLENTY to clean. It’s shaping up though and I’ll post pics of before and after when it’s finished.
Until then, we’ll just keep making the most of each day and enjoying the simple things – we don’t want to get caught up in the affairs of the world buying a first home and staying so busy.

  1. Colt’s new nose is cute, but I like his old nose best!
Congratulations to the first-time home buyers. We miss you all.

  2. Great pictures, Haley. Don’t know how in the world you had time to post being so busy, but thank you sooo much for taking the time. It’s a great sight for these “grandma” eyes! Looks like Colt’s “boo boo” is healing up nicely. Can’t wait to see the house pictures. We’re happy for you and thankful for God’s blessings. Love you!
