Some things that come with fall. . .

My Dear killed another deer! This is his second one this season. It’s a “lovely” 6 point (hope nobody has a weak stomach). Colt didn’t know what to think!

We went down to Aunt B and Uncle Dale’s last night after fixing some of Daddy’s deer for supper. . .mmm mmm good! Colt loves his Aunt and Uncle!

Our little pumpkin 🙂

Sometimes I think Colt might be bashful because he makes this little face a lot when he smiles at you and he kind of looks down while flashing smiles your way. It’s precious!Pretty pirate girls and can-can dancers 🙂

Colt and Sarah. . . they are so entertained by one another 🙂

As usual. . . Sarah is always reaching for Colt!

Almost 3 months old!

It’s hard for me to believe that Colt will be 3 months old on Sunday, Nov 2!! I have to admit, though David and I didn’t plan this little man, nor did I particularly enjoy the whole journey to get him here. . . we wouldn’t trade him for the world!! We are so thankful to the Lord for him. It’s funny how much joy he brings to our lives. Of course, (like everyone told us) life is completely different with a little one. Who wouldn’t consider it much better though?! We love him soo much and are trying to treasure every second, every expression, and of course every one of his “firsts.” Let’s see. . . Colt smiles, coos and talks all the time. He really hardly ever cries unless he has some gas bubbles or is tired. He has started rolling over. He surprised us with that on Sunday morning – good thing he was in the middle of the bed and we were right there with him. He’s started squealing and David has got him to actually laugh a couple of times in the past week. He loves to sit and stand (with help) of course, and we think he likes music – if you saw yesterday’s post.

These are pictures from yesterday. Colt just got finished rolling down the bed. And this is my dear friend Heather and her hubby Ricky. Heather is due in like 2 weeks! We are excited to meet little girl Addison Rae!

Colt’s Song

David and I both have such a love for music, and we were quite amused to find out Colt may just love music too! We were singing one Sunday afternoon and he just joined right in! Our prayer is that all of the children the Lord blesses us with will use their talents to honor and praise Him at every opportunity – because He is worthy!

Catching up. . .

Well, Colt has had a cold this weekend. David and I have both had it, so I suppose the odds were increased for Colt to get it too. David went hunting Friday and Saturday, and Colt woke up coughing because he couldn’t breathe through his nose Friday night. Needless to say, there wasn’t much sleeping going on for either Mommy or Baby. He doesn’t like the bulb syringe at all during the night. I wouldn’t either if I couldn’t get woke up enough to figure out why I couldn’t breathe during that unpleasant suction! If he’s wide awake and alert he’ll do pretty well if I talk to him the whole time. He’ll just smile among the startled facial expressions. This is a picture from yesterday morning. He’s been a good sport through it all, but you can tell by his eyes that he’s not feeling to well. He’s such a sweet baby though! We just love him too death!!

The rest of these pics were taken last week, before the little man got sick. He is really growing and I can tell he gets stronger and stronger every day! I used to prop him up with pillows in this exersaucer, but now he’s doing it on his own. He loves all the colors, especially the smiling sun (you’ll see later).

He’s going to be a reader?
The smiling sun!

Smiles from Mama’s boy 🙂
These next few pictures were taken while Colt was staying with Aunt B last week. He’s a happy camper! He reminded me of little Caily in this picture . . . something about that face 🙂

Colt got a fishing hat. I guess he’ll have to start fishing with Grandpa Miles soon!

Happy Birthday Nana Gail!

One of my favorite pictures ever! How cute is that?
Four Generations. . .
Nana Gail’s birthday is Friday (10/10), but we had a birthday dinner with the family at Aunt B and Uncle Dale’s this past Sunday afternoon. I really appreciate my mom. . . not only because of all that she’s done for me (which you can’t really appreciate until you are a mother yourself!), but she is a HUGE help with the grandbabies. She has kept Sarah several times, and she also keeps Colt while I work during the week. We all love you Mom, and your love for others shows through your actions each day. Thanks for all you do!

Colt had his 2 month check-up today. . . which also included his shots 🙁 He did great at first. He was smiling and cooing all over the place, but after about an hour he started getting tired. The nurse came right before we left, and he was already starting to fuss. Needless to say, the fussing only got worse and carried through the check-out desk, the hallways, the elevator, and the parking lot! I was breaking a sweat bouncing around this 15 pound boy for that long! (Oh, by the way, he is 24 1/2 inches and 15 pounds exactly. He’s in the 95 percentile! Yay for this brute! 🙂 He’s also had a pretty rough evening. He’s not been eating or sleeping well. The doctor warned me of this though. Hope (and pray) our little man feels better tomorrow!

He was trying his best to be good once we got home. I laid him down and he slept for about an hour. He was glad to be home though. He laid there snug as a bug in a rug looking at his mobile. He loves to hold his little bear. I think cousin Chloe got that for him. Thanks for the blanket Mrs. J! (And thanks for the new outfit and toy too! – he needed that bigger size obviously)
Talking up a storm! He’s been cracking me up trying to talk. He’ll mimic your tone and inflections. It’s cute to see him move his tongue and jaw and everything trying to talk like you are.
Our favorite smile these days! It’s contagious 🙂

Makayla, Riley and Colt

Dear Makayla and Riley,

Thank you for coming and visiting me this weekend! I love my monster truck pajamas that you picked out for me Riley! I love the outfit and blanket that you picked out too Makayla. I sleep with that blanket every night because it keeps me warm. You are fun cousins, and you made me smile a lot. I wish that you lived closer so we could play together. I hope your pictures turned out good.

I love you. Colt.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa Miles!

We were able to drive down to Mount Airy, NC and meet David’s parents for a couple of days. They were riding their motorcycle and enjoying the beautiful fall weather/scenery. It just happened to be the hometown of one of TV’s finest – Andy Griffith!

Colt will appreciate these pics one day when he gets older and watches some Andy Griffith reruns! This is the Blue Bird Diner. The Snappy Lunch was across the road.

Colt and Grandpa Miles happy reunion. They haven’t been together since Colt was first born. Now he’s 9 weeks old!

Catching up on the latest news from Colt. . .

This picture was at Aunt Bea’s BBQ restaraunt. I looove BBQ, so I must say it was a good lunch!Grandma Miles ordered the grilled chicken salad, but the rest of us ordered the BBQ plate with yummy coleslaw, fries, and hushpuppies! Aunt Bea does it right. . .
Laughing at Grandpa Donnie. . .

Colt’s first time on a motorcyle!

He was in good hands though, so Mommy wasn’t worried 🙂

Saying goodbye 🙁 We had a great visit though, even if it had to be short this time. . .
