Love

My two true loves. . .

I am so thankful for the wonderful husband that the Father brought into my life. I was just thinking last night about how beautiful David’s heart is. I can honestly say that I’ve never heard him talk badly about someone, or down on someone. I can also say that he has never raised his voice at me. He’s such a patient, kind, and loving man! He’s filled with the Spirit, Who enables him. I wish I could say the same wonderful things about myself . . . hopefully he’ll continue to grow me and “rub off on me.” I already do silly joyful things all day because of him. One of which is making up songs and singing about everything when we are with Colt. I wonder if Colt will just start singing instead of talking 🙂

Who would have thought that on our second Valentine’s Day together we would have a little bundle of love? Having a child brings love into a whole new light. I Peter 4 :8 “Above all, love one another deeply, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

I Corinthians 13:4-8a “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrong doing, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

I John 4:7-8 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from the Father  and whoever loves has been born of the Father and knows the Father. Anyone who does not love, does not know the Father  because the Father is love.”

Colossians 3:14 “Above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”

Share Christ’s love with someone today!

Ride ’em Cowboy!

If Colt is anything like his Daddy (or if his Daddy has anything to do with it), he’ll be great with horses 🙂 I personally think they are beautiful animals, but I get quite uncomfortable when I’m near one. I guess because they could buck or kick and shatter you . . . I’ve asked my honey to teach me and help me so we could share that activity together, but he always says “they are too dangerous for his sweetheart.” Either, he loves me so much and doesn’t want to lose me, or . . . we’ll just leave that to be the only option 🙂

ANYWAYS, we are doing great. Colt had applesauce today and I made some peas for the near future. Yum Yum! haha. He’s doing pretty well though. David says he thinks he’s already gaining weight (from those 2 tablespoons of applesauce and rice cereal I suppose). I love my boys!!

Mr. Sun

These are for all of you up in West Virginia who are freezing to death or enjoying the snow! Colt and I played on the playground this week. It’s right across from our apartment – so that was an unexpected convenience and blessing we found when we arrived here. It was a beautiful day – probably low 60’s. We’ve been taking lots of walks and enjoying the outdoors here in historic Wake Forest. I’m one to be drawn to older homes and their architecture, so we walk from the apartment to the seminary campus and down the sidewalks past the beautiful homes, most over a century old! Maybe one day Colt will appreciate it, but for now he doesn’t need any toys or entertainment – he loves to look around. Everyone we pass has to stop and talk to him too (we’ve met some regulars and their dogs that way).

I did start Colt on rice cereal this week. He’s doing pretty well with that. It just makes feeding times take about 4 times longer than usual 🙂 I suppose this is only the beginning though.

If it’s any consolation, it’s been in the thirties here the past 2 days . . . but there is more 70 degree weather in the weekend forecast! Come visit!!

6 months old

Colt is 6 months old today! We’ve been having a ball just playing and growing 🙂 He’s 18 pounds and 28 1/2 inches long. So, obviously he’s slowed down with his gaining weight (he was 17 pounds 9 ounces at 4 months and 26 1/4 inches), but he’s still going strong with his length! Because of this milestone, I’ve been thinking about starting baby foods and all of that. We’ll be getting some nice pics from that soon I’m sure! Messy messy – – Mommy’s favorite! haha

Here are some fun pics. . . Daddy and Colt were going outside to the playground, and we had to find a hat since it was so sunny! The weather has been beautiful. Colt really likes the baby swing at the playground. It’s nice to be outside too.

Doesn’t he make playtime look like fun? haha

"Mirror Mirror (not on the wall) . . ."

Colt is really enjoying the mirror these days. We can’t even pass a mirror without stopping to smile and talk 🙂 The mirror in these pics was one of those ones that hang over the door, but he pulled it right off! I guess he was really happy to see his buddy (his reflection) that day! Don’t worry. . . no one was hurt!

We’ve been here in Wake Forest for 3 weeks now. It’s really flown by! David is doing well and enjoying his seminary classes. He’s very disciplined in his studies. It seems I’m going to have to beef up my studying skills as well! I just received my confirmation for the NCLEX (nursing boards) in the mail on Thursday. I must say that my stomach dropped out when I read that letter. Yes, I knew it was coming and have actually been waiting for it. I guess I have finished all the “hard” work of nursing school and clinicals, but this is the next big step! This is going to make everything REAL!! Sometimes I don’t feel competent or confident, but the Lord has given me the desire to take my nursing overseas and has enabled me to receive the training to do so (thus far). “He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it,” right? I’m scheduled to take the test mid-February. . . so I’d appreciate your prayers as I continue to prepare. I really don’t want to fail (I mean, who would?) since you have to wait 45 days for retakes, it costs $265 dollars, and we really need the income! YET, the Father is in control and He already knows!

Another Blessing

We are getting all settled into our “townhouse/apartment” here in Wake Forest. I really love the location, the neighbors are great, and it’s so good to be within a mile of Daniel and Renee too! I’ve never been this close to . . . well everything!! Any and every store imaginable is within about 10 minutes (except a Krispy Kreme’s which is a good 30 minutes away we found out to our disappointment).

Colt has finally gotten settled into his room too. He had been using Mom and Dad’s crib while we were in WV (which they had kept from when Heath and I were little – pretty neat!), so we have been looking for one for us down here. David found a beautiful set on craigslist – this site is a definite moneysaver if you are interested!! The Lord provided these three pieces for $300, though it is over $1200 new! We joke that it’s better quality than our bedroom furniture 🙂 We really do give the credit to the Lord because we happened to be the first to call about it, though MANY followed and wanted it. Anyways, here are some pics for the fam who has been wanting to see it (and pics of Colt of course).

Colt seems to enjoy it too!

Buddies

Well, I realize it’s been a few days (which can seem like MUCH longer when you are hundreds of miles away from family huh?). We are doing great though! We had a “big” snow according to NC 🙂 It was substantial – about 5 inches. The thing is . . . they don’t really clear the roads here. So, we didn’t go anywhere. We were “snowed in” with 5 inches of snow! haha. David started seminary today. He is enoying it I think. Colt and I are still having fun too!

-He’s sitting up and playing well.
-He has started babbling a lot. He’ll carry on a conversation for quite awhile, but he won’t let me get a word in edgewise!
-He is so full of energy in the morning that we are struggling to keep up with him (since we are still tired and he’s not). It’s not like he’s going anywhere, he just wants to stand and sit and squirm in every direction.
-The best thing is that he has started reaching for us. He started that today. It’s really precious 🙂

Here are a few pics of Daddy and his little buddy . . . we have a video of David making him laugh lots too, but hopefully it’ll upload someday!

(I’m sure you like Colt’s baldspot too from where he sleeps huh?)
