Mommy and Daddy’s Vaca

David planned this amazing trip to Cozumel, MX to celebrate our 5 year anniversary!  We are on day 3 of 7 and it has been AMAZING!  The resort is all inclusive, and we are in awe of the Father’s creation here – the beauty is breathtaking.
The turquoise crystal clear waters ~

Snorkeling is our new favorite thing to do.  We have seen hundreds of exotic fish!
They just swim right around you.  It’s the neatest thing!

Dressed up for dinner.  This has also been the best food we’ve ever had!
And it’s endless. . . All you can eat whenever you want! ha!

Gorgeous sunset ~

We are taking lots of pictures and videos so we will have a big post when we get home I’m sure.

P.S.  Thanks Mama T and Daddy D for keeping the kiddos!! We miss them and love them tons ~

Happy 11 Months Kylie!

It’s hard to believe this little one will be a year old next month!  I’m working on a video of her walking for those of you who have asked about her progress.  She’s been at it for a month now and is constantly on the move (as you can probably see in these pictures)!

Some things she likes:
Bananas
Mommy, Daddy, and “Bubba” (Colt)
Walking and Climbing
Being overdramatic (already)
Eating (though you can’t tell by her size)
Water
Music
Animals
Outside

Santee May 2012

We enjoyed a few days away with most of the Miles (missing Darin and Jody’s family) last week.  We had a lot of fun!  I will let the pictures and video do the talking ~

27th Birthday

Daddy and Kylie all matchy matchy 🙂

My parents came down for my birthday.  We had a great visit, and the kids really enjoyed their time together.  (Colt was pretty excited about the cake).

My big boy!  I can’t believe how big he is getting. . We are loving life with this little guy.  There is DEFINITELY never a dull moment 🙂

Perfect example here!  I turn around this is what I see. . . yummy, can I have that piece Colt?

We went to Raleigh Museum of Natural Science.  It was super neat!  However, this is the only picture from there – I guess I can remember this fish.  Ha!  Then we went to Outback for my birthday dinner.  It was quite delicious.

I am so thankful for the 27 years of life that the Father has given to me.  I’m thankful for my relationship with my Savior, my parents that have always loved and supported me, the home and opportunities I have had, family and good friends, the best husband, fabulous in-laws, and 2 precious, beautiful, and healthy little ones!  Wow!  Sometimes I am just at a loss before my awesome Father in heaven as His blessings seem endless.  It has been a good year. . .

Milling Grains. . .

Here is my set up right now. I’m just kicking myself for having this for at least a year and JUST NOW getting hooked on it! I LOVE it! And my family does too – I have milled grains and used the flour for cookies, rolls, muffins, bread. . . everything has been just delicious! Let me also say that we can tell a huge difference in our “regularity” with just this simple change. Your body can process this and get all of the nutrients out of it too. It’s pretty exciting! Hard White and Hard Red are the grains that I have right now. They aren’t white or red though when milled. Both a light brown color. The Hard Red has more of a nutty flavor though. You can also add different flavors to things you make with the honey you use: orange blossom, tupelo, etc.
This is a muffin recipe that I got from my Mama T. It’s super wonderful and great with fresh milled flour. You can add whatever you want to it – cinnamon, vanilla, nuts, fruits. . . etc. I suppose whatever you are craving at the time. I try to keep this around too because it’s so good to get the day started!
I’ve also had trouble keeping this yummy homemade granola around! Colt loves to eat it plain or with yogurt and bananas. I personally like it with milk and fruit. It’s super good!

Granola Recipe:
5 cups oats
2 cups coconut
1 cup almonds
1 cup walnut
1 cup pecans
1 cup flax (which I usually throw in just about everything by the way)
Heat 1/2 cup oil and 1 cup honey on the stove, and stir into mix above.
Bake at 325 for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and stir in some craisins and raisins. Enjoy!
Just some food for thought (literally)!

Kylie at 10 months – Taking steps and the Great Wolf Lodge

Happy 10 months to our sweet Kylie girl (on the 13th anyways). . .

She is just the sweetest and happiest little girl! We are so thankful for her and she really does bring “Joy” to our lives – already living up to her name! She is an active little one, always on the move, climbing everywhere! Actually, last week I was washing the dishes from lunch (which only took a minute), and I lost her. So while Colt was looking for her downstairs, I ran upstairs, and there she was. . . playing in her room. THANKFULLY, she safely climbed the stairs and didn’t try to come back down. Guess I won’t be mindlessly washing dishes anymore. She has also started taking those first steps!! I went to a consignment store and got her a pair of walking shoes for $2 and a walker for $8! She is LOVING them!! She is progressively walking more and more on her own each day. Colt is excited that she is getting “big” like him 🙂 We also took our youth group to the Great Wolf Lodge this past weekend. Colt and Kylie both had a blast (everyone did!). Kylie is just such a water lover. I mean, I knew she loved bath time. . . but she definitely loves the pool too! So fun to watch her grow!
