We had a snow day last weekend 🙂 David took Colt out to play in it, but it was really quite wet and nasty. Colt still loved it of course! I must have felt like Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart or something because i stayed inside and made homemade yogurt, go-gurts, and strawberry freezer jam! Yum!! The kids love the go-gurts and the jam. The jam is just strawberries and honey. It’s REALLY tasty. We’ve almost finished a whole jar in a week! I chose freezer jam because I didn’t want to cook the nutrients out of the strawberries or the honey. The only pectin I could find that worked without cooking and with honey (didn’t have to use multiple cups of of white sugar) was Pemona’s Universal Pectin. Check it out!

Daddy and Colt have been enjoying a new app called “Foldify.” It’s an app where you can draw, create, print, then fold into 3D creations! They made some angry birds. . . the yellow one is still with us, but Kylie sat on the red one 🙂 Then, they surprised me with my “valentine van” full of lovins that Colt thought of himself. I mean, I’m good at laundry and I make him cookies sometimes? haha. It was very sweet, and I love it!

Colt and Kylie are still in love with their sweet Baby Cade 🙂 Unfortunately the older 2 have colds. . . and all of the kisses are going to have to take a break for awhile, or just resort to ONLY top-of-the-head-kisses I suppose. Caden was 9 lbs. 9 oz. today at his 2 week appointment. That’s 1 whole pound gained from his birthweight of 8 lbs. 9 oz. Maybe mommy’s milk is just straight sweet cream? haha.
This beautiful little blue papoose was knit with love by Grandma Trudy 🙂 I think it is just precious! It has a matching hat, but we weren’t counting on having such a BIG boy – the hat is a bit small already ~ He is still such a sweet and content little baby. Hardly ever cries. Sleeping and eating like a champ! His weight check today at 6 days old was 8 lbs 13 oz (birthweight was 8 lbs 9 oz). So thankful for a healthy little one!
Because it’s “flu season” (and I suppose the flu is so prevalent this year), no one under 18 years old was allowed to visit while we were in the hospital. We were only there overnight, but it was still a bit of a bummer to think the kiddos had to wait to meet their long awaited baby brother! Here is a video of their first interactions. They have both been soooo great with him – just ever so aware and gentle. I’m so proud of them and very thankful!
We were given 2 due dates for Caden’s arrival, January 12th or 16th. When they both came and passed on the calendar, this Mommy was BEYOND ready to meet the little one inside! At my OB appointment on January 16th, I was already 3 cm dilated. They scheduled me to be induced the following Tuesday, January 22nd, but really we thought I would go into labor on my own by the weekend because I had been having mild contractions pretty regularly. Well, the weekend also came and went. I could tell he was going to be a big baby, and I was quite uncomfortable with a lot of back and pelvic pain/pressure. It felt exactly like when I had carried Colt. I just knew he was going to be over 8 pounds (that’s why we didn’t buy any newborn size diapers). Monday morning at 11:00 pm, my contractions had been 3 minutes apart for about 4 hours. So we called a friend to come stay with the kids and headed to the hospital. On our way to the hospital the contractions started getting further and further apart (really?! After 4 hours of regularity every 3 minutes. . . yes). When we arrived and were being admitted to the hospital they had pretty much stopped. So, around 1:00 am they sent us home. BOO HOO! That was a bummer. BUT a few hours later (at home), around 5:00 am they started hard core. They stayed about 10 minutes apart all day – and they were bad. I couldn’t talk/walk/move through them. So it was a long day to say the least. That night, again I couldn’t sleep because of the contractions. At 1:00 am they went from 10 minutes apart to 2 minutes apart. I was up walking, drinking water, took a hot bath. . . then we left after 1 hour of the contractions being 2 minutes apart – I started getting scared we weren’t going to make it in time! When we arrived at the hospital around 2:45am, Tuesday January 22nd (which is the day I was SUPPOSED TO BE INDUCED REMEMBER??), I was a good 6cm dilated and everything moved quickly on its own. Baby Cade was born at 6:58am. A healthy 8 lbs 9 oz, and 21.25 inches long. (Remember how I said he reminded me of Colt? Colt was 8 lbs 10 oz and 21.25 inches long).
He seems to have a sweet and content demeanor. We are so thankful for this little boy!
