This video is from yesterday and today. Colt’s walking skills are gradually improving. It’s alot of fun to watch him learn.
When I Grow Up I Wanna Be. . .
Well, Colt and I had a heart-to-heart today. We were talking about the future, and though I do hope the Lord returns before Colt grows up. . . we were discussing what he was thinking about his future. Of course our prayer is that he gives his heart to the Lord and serves Him – whatever the occupation . I just had to explain that you don’t have to be in “full-time ministry” to be a witness in the workplace. So here are some things that he is interested in at the moment:
Professional bubble blower. . . maybe he’ll do birthday parties or celebrations of some other sort. He promptly repeated “bubble” though after I said it. hmmm. . . that would be the first I think. Moving on. . .
A race car driver? Like the Daytona 500 (or whatever that is called). . . ?“Gentlemen mount your horses. . . I mean, start your engines!”
A mechanic? He was fixing the horn here (notice the tongue sticking out in utter concentration) – I hope he doesn’t have road rage. . . he sure was beeping a lot.
A construction worker? What boy doesn’t like big trucks and dirt?A baby model? – – not sure about that one son. . .
Lawn and garden landscaping? Good, Mommy needs some help in that area!
A professional basketball player? Nana Gail and Gramps like to watch basketball right?
He’s got the dribble down pat, but he’s struggling with dribbling in between the legs. . . they are just too short right now!
I know the Lord has a special plan for this special boy.
He’ll be 11 months old tomorrow and officially started walking today. He’s been taking like 3-4 steps, but he’s up to a good 8-10 now. It’s quite amusing how he plops down and his hair flaps in the wind. haha. He just keeps going though. I think knee pads would be a nice addition to his everyday wardrobe.
Day #2 at SML
Well, Aunt Jane bought the babies some pretty cute outfits for the 4th (which is next weekend – unbelievable how time flies!) Since we won’t be together then, we decided to go ahead and get some shots while we were at the lake one morning.
Jacob is 8 this year, and there was a HUGE difference in him with the water. Last year he wouldn’t even get in (which is understandable – a huge body of water where you can’t see the body is scary at times for little guys). This year he was tubing and swimming like a regular fish! We couldn’t get him out of the water!!
Before we left today, David and Jacob had to tube one more time . . . well Jacob decided the water was too bumpy out there in the middle of the lake, so he just jumped out of his tube at who knows how fast! That’s a big difference from last year for sure! He was a lot of fun though and is such a great kid. We love him.

Of course, Colt was still loving the boat as always . . . though I don’t know if he’s fan of water that is cooler than bath water! He should be tubing and skiing by August though 🙂

Happy girl! She was hilarious. . . all the time. She sings and reads to herself. Of course you can’t understand a word of it, but the different intonations that she produces are quite amusing 🙂

Onto a different part of the day. . . we went to the Clubhouse and got kicked out the indoor pool. It was supposedly closed because it was a new construction and not yet completed. There either weren’t any signs or we didn’t see them since we were too excited about having an indoor pool to avoid the sun with the little ones. We had the worlds most stuff in there too! We were so excited about having the pool to ourselves – – that was short lived 🙂
So, we swam outside and then brought the babies home for an afternoon nap. The thing was that EVERYONE slept (except David . . . Mr. Productive). We laughed that we had to rest on our SECOND day of vacation!
We all woke up and went out around 4:30, which was nice because the sun wasn’t beating overhead. David and I enjoyed some good “couples” skiing together — how romantic, I know 😉
Sarah was watching to make sure we didn’t get left behind out there!

It was a great mini-vacation for sure! It was long enough to enjoy the time away and together with family, but short enough to make us look forward to August when we get to go for a week! Thanks Mom and Dad for the great place to stay and all the energy you spent on us and the grandkids! We love you lots!!
This may be the last post for awhile. We are closing on a house and will have a busy schedule for awhile as we work around there. We are super excited though! Lots of memories ahead for this little family Lord willing.
Day #1 (Smith Mountain Lake)
So, the babies had a glad reunion last night when the caravan from West Virginia finally arrived here at SML. David and I left from chrch and arrived around 5. We had unpacked, already gone to the pool, and were pretty much ready for bed when the gang finally arrived around 8. I called them a “caravan” earlier because you should have see them when they pulled up. They were pulling stuff out of every inch inside and outside of the suburban.
Of course, Sarah hugged Colt about 25 times last night and another 59 today. She reminds me a lot of our Aunt B with her sweet little self and lots of hugs and smiles 🙂
Both babies loved the boat. Sarah would laugh over every bumpy wave, and Colt just couldn’t get enough wind blowing in his hair! It was hilarious. We had lots of sunscreen and lots of replacing hats on their precious heads.
My hubby kicked things off on the knee board, then there was lots of tubing with swimming to cool off for the “watchers” in the boat. The boys have an ongoing talley of who falls off the most. You can tell by these pics who it was this time – – (David is on the left/ Heath is on the right)
The little boatsman. . . he’s learning to tie a “sailor’s knot” you know. . .
Sarah just laughed every time she got dipped in the lake. She is a waterbaby for sure!
This bird found a cozy place for his nest didn’t he? Right in the middle of the lake for the boaters and tubers pulling behind them to gawk at. I couldn’t believe the size of that nest! Isn’t it amazing how the Lord designed them with their instincts to be able to construct such a thing?! Those are some big sticks!!
This was pretty much a permanent fixture on the backseat of the boat. He was loving watching the waves behind the boat and the wind in his hair.
Me and my tubing buddy. . this was more up my alley than trying to “hold on for dear life” riding with the big boys. There is NO such thing as a smooth or slow/easy tube ride with my dad driving the boat though.
Dipping by the dock. . . how we keep the babies cool until everyone makes in down to the boat during the day
Randomness
We went to the Olive Garden for dinner on David’s bday (so obviously these pics are a week old). Some how we ended up going to my favorite restaurant on my hubby’s birthday?? What a great guy right? Colt and I share the Minestrone soup. He likes to make a horrible mess feeding himself the pasta and veggies. Oh well, it has the little healthy Olive Garden symbol beside it on the menu. . . so it’s good for him!

We are headed to Smith Mountain Lake for a few days tomorrow for a much needed vacation! This last day at work was one that I never want to repeat again – way too busy for one day!! My back and legs still hurt and that was yesterday! I often quote a prayer that was on something my mom gave me repeatedly throughout the day: Happy 25th Bday Love!
Girl (my mom’s dog) was such a trooper with Sarah and Colt.  She let them “pet” (or beat on) her, poke her in the eyes and nose, pull on her hair and ears. You know. . . the whole works.  She must have known that they really liked her a lot and that was just how they showed it!  What a good dog 🙂

This is either cousin love or baby wrestling caught on camera!

You gotta watch these grandpas you know. . . they might just give their grandbabies grape pop! Â (but he didn’t in case you were gasping)
Sarah Rose Marie
So, maybe I took some pics of Sarah when we were in WV last week. . . does this surprise anyone? After all she is a year old now, and I can’t believe it!!

The following pics are taken in a special setting. . . Her daddy bought and planted this tree for her first birthday. It will just grow right along with her and be quite neat to take pics with each year. I was pretty proud of my brother for thinking of such a sweet idea right?! He surprises us sometimes with his “tender” side, don’t you Bubs? haha.
Sarah loves her doll baby. . . I believe this one is “Rose” (named by Nana Gail). Her other baby is “Marie.” Clever Mom 🙂 Sarah looks like a doll baby herself in this pic doesn’t she?

This precious little girl is such a joyful life! We are so thankful for her first year 🙂 We love you Sissy!!
Birthday Babies
So, I know it’s been awhile for those of you who have been reminding me. . . thanks, but I didn’t forget. I just have to prioritize and blogging is pretty much last on the list. I’ve had a crazy work schedule. Only having to work 3 12 hour days a week and be full time has its pros and cons. Usually that allows for a break inbetween. However, my 3 days of work ran back to back for the past 2 weeks and I worked 6 out of 7 days. I was exhausted!! (and NOT blogging!) Wednesday night, David picked me up from work and we drove to WV – arriving around 2:30 am. It was definitely a quick trip to West Virginia to play music for our friends’ wedding. Sorry to any of you WV friends that we didn’t get to see (actually “all” of our WV friends because we didn’t make any visits outside of family). We stayed busy busy. I was soo tired the whole time and when we got back. We drove back Saturday after the wedding – got home around 1:30 am. Needless to say, all 3 of us took a loooong nap after chrch on Sunday. Then the work started again! But, I’m off for a few days. Hopefully I’ll get caught up with blogging my pictures. I’ll be doing different days in pieces though.
It was good to see all of the fam though. Sarah and Colt are too cute together. Sarah got soo excited when she first saw Colt. She was all smiles and laughing and grabbing him. She pretty much loved him too death the whole time we were there. It reminded me of Heath loving me too death when we were little. I know I cried when I saw him coming because he would hug and kiss me more than I appreciated 🙂 haha. Maybe that’s where Sarah gets it from?
Anyways, so we all know that Sarah’s birthday was last month and Colt won’t “actually” be 1 until August 2. . . but don’t be a party pooper!! We went ahead and got a cake since the miles separate birthday celebrations “on time” in this family. Plus, Aunt Gail and Stacy and their fams got them both these adorable little matching outfits. Of course, we couldn’t resist pictures! It was quite the entertaining show.
Sarah already did this once – so that makes her a pro right? Colt was a little skeptical at first, but he followed her lead . . . a bit over the top as you will see.

Such a little princess! Sarah is a great little gal! She’s so sweet and happy all of the time! Not to mention cute as a doll right?! She took right to all 3 of us right away. It was good to see her brother Jacob too. He was helping us watch them while all of this was unfolding. He’s a great big brother and can make the babies laugh like no other!

Yeah, so this is all the mess that little dainty girl made! Just a like wet rag for the face and she was all clean! We don’t know how she did it actually. . . Colt was on a whole different level of messy!! But, he is a boy right? So, I should be getting used to this?

I really hope they didn’t eat that much!! I think some “older” people (aka David and Jacob) may have snuck around and pinched off some pieces too 🙂 I was expecting a tummy ache in Colt’s near future though. He ended up doing fine.
We pretty much just wrapped him up and went straight to the tub. . . which David just got in there with him. The bath water wasn’t too clean for long with all of that cake and icing everywhere. I really couldn’t tell how much he ate or smeared everywhere. I know it wasn’t good for him though! It was precious and priceless, but I don’t think he’ll ever be feeding himself cake again (atleast not for like 4-5 years!!) haha.

Speaking of “birthday babies,” my #1 Baby’s birthday is coming right up – June 12th!! Sure do you love you Babes!
Memorial Day Pics
El Mexicano
Finger foods are such fun – for Colt of course, we used silverware!! David and I had a free $25 promo gift certificate for a local Mexican restaraunt. The only thing we had to do was spend $35 to use it. So, that meant we would spend $10 and get $35 worth of food. We have never spent that much on just the two of us. . . we really don’t go out to eat either. So, we were going wild with the menu! haha. We had a table FULL of food, and I think the onlookers either thought we were piggies or made of money!
Colt had some yummy gaucamole (he loves avocado) and some rice. He was going to town and having a good ‘ole time. It was kind of embarrassing when we left because there was a huge pile of rice surrounding his high chair (and IN his high chair).
Needless to say, it was good – we both (well, I guess all 3 of us!) LOVE Mexican! And we’ll be having it again tomorrow since we brought home multiple take home boxes with leftovers 🙂
Don’t mind my sweetheart and my goofy self portraits. . . we were having fun together. . .
