Whew! This little boy must be special and loved (and he SURE IS!) because we have been celebrating his 5th birthday since May – his actual birthday is August 2 by the way! I have never really been one for throwing big parties. Family and a few friends are enough for me, and that’s what we have always done with our kids. I want to make their birthdays extra special by spending quality time with those who love them most – people who show them just how loved and special they really are. . . not so much about “stuff.” That’s sooo hard to teach in our American society though. Really.
BUT, we have a lot going on this year for our little guy. He is turning 5 and has been going to his friends birthday parties all year. This is the FIRST year he has actually cared about having a “party with his friends.” We were moving from NC in May though – so his friends wouldn’t be close by on his actual birthday (August 2nd). So Mommy caved/melted for my big boy who is facing lots of changes/goodbyes/transitions. . and I “went all out” for a little gathering at our local park with some neighbors and friends from preschool. We had a Star Wars Angry Bird theme going on. . . since he is totally into that
We painted some rocks like angry birds. . . and colored Star Wars Angry Birds pictures |
We had Angry Bird balloons too! |
Colt’s photobooks through the years. . . sniff sniff |
Lightsabers (from pool noodles) to go with the Star Wars Angry Bird theme! |
The birthday boy! |
All his little buddies who came! |
Chicken Nuggets, Pizza Bites, Fruits/Veggies, Apple Squeezers, and Angry Bird Cheezits |
Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of cake per birthday boy’s request |
Happy 5th birthday to one sweet little guy! We Love you!
